Default Feedback on program

I am running Win XP Pro Sp3.

I would be interested in any feedback from users of Malware Defender.

I am currently evaluating it.

Thanks.

It should also be noted that web site is an Enigma affiliate whose sole
pupose is for the infected reader to use Enigma's SpyHunter through them for
affiliate revenue. But Malware Defender, Strong Malware Defender and
variants are scareware Rogues and are not real anti malware utilities. Andy
needs to look at traditional anti malware software and learn the difference
so he doesn't fall for their malicious ploys.

What did you base this on ? "are scareware Rogues."

Malware Defender has alerted me to many programs attempting to call home.

As well as programs that try to get in the "Startup Line" without asking?

I don't like programs that "go into my fridge without asking".

I've been studying malware for more than 20 years, wrote the Multi-AV
Scanning Tool which is a frnt-end to multiple command line scanners and I am
a former employee of MalwareBytes which produces the legitimate MalwareBytes
Anti Malware (MBAM) application. Thus I have some knowledge in the malware
arena.

What is the home page/URL of the "Malware Defender" you are using ?

This program looks highly suspicious. There are many references on the
net about it being spyware. Its developers site is written only in
Chinese. The site is known to host spyware. There are no reviews of the
program anywhere.

Why would you bother with this when there are so many other reputable
products of this type?

Ah - I think I've pinned it down fairly indubitably: it's Andy whose
software (or posting host) is adding all the blank lines.

I'm with you there. I have something ancient called something like
"startup monitor" that asks me about things like that (pops up something
like "xxx has set the following to run at startup - do you want to allow
it?") - at least, I have it on my old '98SElite machine; I can't
remember if it works under XP, or if it does, whether I have installed
it. (I think not, probably to both.)

I don't get it, Andy.

Your the one that initiated this post asking for "Feedback on program" yet
you question the feedback your given.

Go ahead, use Malware Defender. We don't care. It's not on our computer.

集查杀木马、防钓鱼欺诈于一体

That's good but do you understand Trojans and Phishing ?

And I'll give you back your recent reply...
"You didn't answer the question, only danced around it. "

I asked "What is the home page/URL of the "Malware Defender" you are using
?" and you give me 360.cn but added "...but it isn't where I downloaded it
from."

"Malware Defender" is a Rogue. You are trying to counter it isn't and you
are "currently evaluating it." Legitimate software usually has a "homepage"
on a home web site. 360.cn is not the web page of the author.

In the thread "Java still broken" in a.c.f which mentions further
vulnerabilities found in Oracle JRE v7 update 11. You asked...
"I see all these messages about Java, so I have a question.
Has anyone here been affected by it, and if so, what specifically happened?"

I answered...
"Those who may have been affected by the exploitation of the vulnerability
would have, with a high probability, had malware foisted upon them and they
may not even know it."

Your response was "You didn't answer the question, only danced around it. "

Yes, I did. Just without getting into specifics. Someone "sells" the
exploit code to a malicious actor. That malicious actor uses the exploit in
their ploy to get their malware payload on your computer. What that ploy is
will vary based upon WHO is creating the malicious action as well as the
payload will vary based upon WHO is creating the malicious action.

Those that may have actually gotten infected can't tell you "what
specifically happened" all they can tell you is the result. Especially
those reading and posting a freeware group laiden with trolls from "Bear" to
"p-0'0-h the cat". Those that may have actually gotten infecgted can't be
sure is was based upon vulnerabilities found in Oracle JRE v7 either. They
could have had a completely different vulnerability exploited such as in PDF
viewing or Apple Quicktime or some other software on their PC.

This is a Windows XP news group. The group is for the discussion on WinXP
problems. It is not a malware related news group so your request for
feedback on Malware Defender is not really On Topic. In the Microsoft.*
hierarchy, the proper group would be; microsoft.public.security.virus
However, since Microsoft has cut the tow rope on the Microsoft.* hierarchy
in Usenet that group has gone mostly quiet. I know 'cause I have been
posting and replying there for 10 years and have been posting and replying
in microsoft.public.windowsxp.general for ~ 15 years.

Outside the Microsft.* hierarchy is...
alt.comp.anti-virus
alt.comp.virus

If you really want "feedback" on "Malware Defender" and want to discuss what
happens in a Java vulnerability/exploit attack, those places are where such
subject matter is On Topic.

And ? That is wonderful that you feel this discussion is relevant because
you are using XP. You're my hero. It doesn't change the fact that you
question each and every negative comment about Malware Defender.
