Default !!! QueryDosDevice failed

Every time I connect my Ipaq 4150 to my desktop the above message appears.
On clicking 'OK' it goes off for a few seconds, then returns. The activesync
works if I leave the error message on screen. The next time I restart my
desktop, my mouse doesn't work and the pointer is frozen in the middle of the
screen. To fix this I have to switch off and disconnect the power. It
sometimes takes a few attempts to get the mouse recognised again. The info
about this error message seems to suggest it is for Windows 2000 but I am
using Windows XP. I am not a computer expert so if anyone knows a solution
please be gentle with me!
Thanks!
