Re-installing an H-P Deskjet 6840 printer with Vista
I recently upgraded to Microsoft Vista operating system. My H-P Deskjet 6840
"lost" its wireless connection to my computer. The printer returns an IP address: 169.254.211.9; mu Internet provider, Wanadoo (France Telecom) LiveBox returns an IP address: 192.168.168.145. The LiveBox cannot "find" the printer even when connected via an Ethernet cable. Any ideas. |

Re-installing an H-P Deskjet 6840 printer with Vista
The 169 address is used when it can't find a DHCP server to 'give' it an
address, so basically your poor printer cannot find the router. It should be assigned a 192 address, if the router is set to assign TCP/IP addresses (which is normal). You may be able to designate it a static IP address manually... and again, it should be in the 192 range. First thing to check.... your router has DHCP ENABLED. -- Cari (MS-MVP) Printing & Imaging www.coribright.com/windows "melcroner" wrote in message ...
