Default How do I change my destop icon text from white to a darker color

On my Windows desktop my Icons are a white font color. I changed my
wallpaper, which had a dark background to one with a light background. My
new background makes the text
really hard to read. The background is now a light gray with the fonts
being
white.
How do I change the text to a darker color? The icons themselves are
fine and I do not want to touch them but it would be nice to have the text
a
darker color.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Cindy, my desktop background color is dark green so white text is fine for
me, but you might try this approach -- do it carefully:

My Computer Control Panel Display Appearance Advanced Item
dropdown Selected Icons Font Color (dropdown) select to change to the
desired color OK your way back out.

Be sure you can retrace your steps if necessary to back out of this. I
didn't try it myself.

He was being sarcastic, Ken. Double-check - do you actually have an entry in
the drop-down saying "Selected Icons"?

I was not or did not mean to be sarcastic. I don't find a 'selected icons'
on my system. I thought he was using
some other version of XP than the one I have.
