Default Safely remove floppy missing

All,

I have an Armada E500 notebook with the usual multi bays. In Windows 2000 I
could safely remove the floppy and undock but these are missing in XP Pro. I
can still remove the PCMCIA cards and USB devices as before. Is this just
another way of getting me to upgrade my hardware?

Cheers,

Jim

Sure! Microsoft is going to make a ton of money by making people replace
HARDWARE. Use your head man!

How would M$ make money making you upgrade you system? They make OS's not computer parts.
