Help!!! Forgotten Password
Hi. This is my first time here (I think) so please bear with me. My husband
took my daughter's laptop with him to work (80 miles away) and desperately needs to use it. However, his password has mysteriously been changed and she can't access hers. When he puts in the hint, it doesn't make sense to any of us. Is there anyway to log on without the password, like maybe in safe mode, and if so, once there, can he change his password and how does he get to safe mode if he can't boot it up? Any, any help would be greatly appreciated. |

WinXP Pro asks the user to set the Administrator's password during installation, but WinXP Home doesn't. Simply log in using the built-in Administrator account (which cannot be deleted) and modify the desired account(s) and use Start Run "control userpasswords2" to modify the desired account(s). By design, the only way to log into the Administrator account of WinXP Home is to reboot into Safe Mode. For WinXP Pro, pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL twice at the Welcome Screen will produce the standard login dialog box. If as you state: "Those previous posts are'nt really always aplicable", your response isn't either then since you provide the same information that the linked article contains. -- Brian A.
