help, i still have login problems with new version
Greetings Minxy,
Since 4.7 still works, most likely you have a third-party firewall installed which you've given Windows Messenger access to the Internet through, but not MSN Messenger. The built-in Windows XP Internet Connection Firewall won't block Messenger, but firewalls like ZoneAlarm, Norton Internet Security and others will -- you'll need to add MSN Messenger into their "allowed" lists. ____________________________________________ Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Messenger/MSN Messenger Associate Expert http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/ Messenger Resources - http://messenger.jonathankay.com "TikMr_Minx" wrote in message ... i did install it, and it says that there are unable to connect me to the .NET messenger service because there is a problem with the service or my internet connection. now it cant be my connection because i can use version 4.7 and i had no problem using version 6.0 it did give me some kind of error code though: 0x81000301 i would appreciate any assistance you can provide -minxy ----- Original Message ----- From: "TikMr_Minx" Newsgroups: microsoft.public.windowsxp.messenger Sent: Tuesday, April 20, 2004 8:06 PM Subject: help please, i cannot login i currently have msn messenger version 6.0 and for some reason i cannot sign it, because everytime i do i get a message telling me "a newer version is available, you must install the newer version to continue, would you like to do this now?" and then gives me a yes or no. i continue trying to sign in and it doesnt go away. at one point i did download the updated version, which told me that i was behind some kind of firewall (which I AM CERTAIN i am not) which was preventing it from signing in. i eventually had to restore my computer to before i installed it to try and get 6.0 working again which hasnt happened anyways if anyone can offer any advice i would greatly appreciate it, please email me at thanks soooo much - minxy |
