Win2k and WinXP Power User inconsistency
Client Tested
WinXP Professional SP2 with Power Users Account Win2K Professional SP4 with Power Users Account Server Tested Win2K PrintServer with 3 network printer Enviroment: All the computers and printers are within the same domain. The Power Users access to the printers are full. There is no default printer on the clients. Problem: My problem lies withing setting lpt1 through net use in XP. I tried the command "net use lpt1: \\printserver\printername" in 2000 professional, it works fine. When I use it with the XP Pro client, the console asks for login/password. I tried 3 different printers on lpt1 in XP Pro. It returns the login/password result. When I tried the same command on lpt2/3 it works fine. If I change the XP Pro account to administrator status it works fine. Anyone encounter this problem before? How would you resolve this without change to the level of user access? Thanks in advance.
