Cannot change boot priority in BIOS
I have a HP desktop (Pavilion xt963) running under Windows XP. On
several occasions, I have wanted to boot the system using a bootable CD (one time for cloning a hard drive and one time for to erase C drive and reinstall the OS). I have learned how to access the BIOS and believe that I'm properly changing boot priority from removable media/floppy drive to CD drive. With the bootable CD in the CD drive, I save/exit BIOS. However, the system does not boot from the CD and just boots normally. I shut down/restart, go back to BIOS, check the settings and find that they are as they should be. Still no booting from the CD. WTF? |

Cannot change boot priority in BIOS
Hi
This issue is Not a Network issue, and even Not Windows or any other OS issue. It is a BIOS Boot issue, and should be addressed to HP. Jack (MS, MVP-Networking). "steve" wrote in message ... Cannot change boot priority in BIOS
Steve,
Keep you eyes on the screen as the HP boots up - Nearly all HP computers provide a prompt that tells you to press any key to boot from a CD. Unless you hit the spacebar or ??? the normal boot takes place - probably because many users forget CD's in the drive. Fred steve wrote: I have a HP desktop (Pavilion xt963) running under Windows XP.
