Default Toshiba M18

I have an exchange student staying with me from china- i run a virus check on
his machine before putting it on my home network it was full of virus`sand
trojans- some of which i cant get rid off- my main trouble is his machine
runs in chinese and as i dont understand chineses my only way of working is
to run my laptop next to his and guess if im using thr correct comands, in
any case- how can i make his machine run in english short of reformatting and
loading a new copy of xp on it- i have tried changing the regional setting
but this does not seem to help

You can't. Only the english version can morph language. And only large =
companies can buy the files to do so.

There is something that might help, at least in theory (understand I =
speak only Australian).

Export this key from your registry and merge it in his. If bad things =
happen just delete the key.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell NoRoam\MUICache

This is a cache of the language read from the files. But with chinese =
who knows what will happen - it would work for western languages to some =
degree.

A 'work around' to the language issue.

If you have 2 machines, able to be connected by ethernet cable, do s and
'network' them.

Once networked ensure that the chinese langauge machine is set to allow
SHARING of the entire hard drive.

On your machine right click on the C Drive of the chinese machine, choose
MAP NETWORKED DRIVE, assign it drive letter S, for argument sake.

Once 'mapped' you can open up the AV application on your machne and then
scan 'your' S Drive for viruses.
