This is a PHYSICAL problem with the drive, or a problem with your DVD
software (probably the former). Either way, it has NOTHING to do with
the OS so the question is out of place here.

Ask elsewhere

No Consequence is a troll who thinks he's in charge of something. Ignore
him.

Possible this is a Windows problem, absent any evidence to the contrary so
far.

You need to determine what kind of disks work in your drive. CDs? What's
special about the "certain DVDs" you can't read? Maybe just DVDs burned by
the friend? Maybe all burned DVDs? What about commercially made DVDs? See
where I'm going here?

`Yes, those "certain dvds" were burned by a friend of mine, but , as I
said earlier , they are running on my other frnds' PCs and laptop

All other disks I own are working fine...but why these 5 dvds aren't
working?

And it isn't the case that all self-burned dvds might not work, as all
of them worked until these 5...

These contain standard video files(DVD) i.e., .VOBs etc.

Perhaps yours doesn't read that type. Check the specs.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD

DVD recordables are now also used for consumer audio and video
recording. Three formats were developed: DVD-R/RW (minus/dash), DVD+R/RW
(plus), DVD-RAM.

OK, that probably leads somewhere....

Something about the way they were burned, is the best guess at this point.

And it isn't the case that all self-burned dvds might not work, as all

All of them from this friend worked until now? (just need to clarify) If
yes, start looking at the type/brand of disk, as Bob wrote. Some brands
don't work in some writers and some readers. Maybe your drive can't do -R,
or +R, who knows? Also, has the friend upgraded or changed his/her burning
software?

Something is different, the trick is figuring out what it is. Of course,
your drive could be broken, too.

BTW, what's with the "Aryan" handle?

Well, I ran Nero disk check and it showed all 3 mentioned types as
marked ones, so that one's ruled out...

And, yes all his burned dvds worked until now(I mean those 5)...

Thanx anyways..

What's with this Aryan handle? What do you mean by that, as I didnt'
got it
..... Aryan is my name & by prefixing L0rd, I am just respecting
myself..
