Default trouble with newly installed DSL

I just installed dsl but now I'm not able to access any web pages. I get a
connection msg saying I'm connected at 100mpbs but no pages load. My
outloook also won't download mail. I contacted my isp and they said that it
was a problem with SP2 and that I should uninstall it. I did and now I do
get web pages but load very slow if at all. Outlook still isnt working.
When I use my dial up they both work fine. Is anyone having similar problems
or can anyone help.

Rafael,

sounds a lot like a DSL problem, rather than a Window XP
problem.

In other words, wrong newsgroup.

The ISP claims its a XP issue wich is why I am here lookin for help. If its
not XP then so be it but it seems that several people are having issues with
sp2 and the web

Are you using a router?

I get a
connection msg saying I'm connected at 100mpbs but no pages load.

Get the IP address of some site that is working...Google, Yahoo,
etc...go to the command prompt...and ping that address. See what you
get.

My
outloook also won't download mail. I contacted my isp

Who is...?

and they said that it
was a problem with SP2 and that I should uninstall it.

And they couldn't tell you how to FIX the problem? lol You should
consider getting a different ISP soon! Did you turn off the firewall
in sp2? Did you disable the modem in device manager?

Always disable the modem in DM unless yer about to use it. It will
help avoid conflicts...and it'll prevent trojans from dialing the 900
Bahamas porno numbers without yer knowledge. It wouldn't hurt to
unplug the cable also.

I did and now I do
get web pages but load very slow if at all.

Then call them back...and tell them. At this point, your problem
certainly can't be sp2. Make sure your browser is set up to use a LAN
connection...and not the dial-up.

Outlook still isnt working.

Any error messages? Related: make sure you get the latest critical
updates.

When I use my dial up they both work fine. Is anyone having similar problems
or can anyone help.

Not to the extent that yer havin'.

Disable the modem...set up your connections for browser, OE, etc. to
use your LAN connection.

AND...call your ISP back and ask to talk to a SUPERVISOR!! Don't take
the poor advice they've already given you. Tell them you didn't call
to chat. You called to get a problem fixed!

Good luck.

Have a nice one...

If he uninstalled sp2...and he now gets a connection...how does this
sound like a DSL problem?

In other words, wrong newsgroup.

I am able to get a successful ping

First they told me to uninstall and reinstall IE then they suggested
uninstalling SP2. I did turn the firewall off in sp2 but it didn't help. I
did'nt disable the modem but I did unplug the cable.
