Default Windows Messenger 5.0 and Exchange

I installed 5.0 so I can use regular MSN IM with my hotmail account and also
do IM to my work address while I am connected using VPN to my work account
on my home PC.

Everything works, but I am continually prompted to enter my work password
even when I am not connected to my VPN tunnel. I even tried disabling the
exchange account in the options-accounts tab, but it still prompts me. Then
when I do login to work, it doesn't seem to want to prompt me for the
exchange password. I have to enter the password before I connect to my vpn
(even though it can't authenticate the login at that time).

Is there any for it to stop nagging me to enter the exchange password?
