I like to use the free PrintKey 2000. When it's installed and running,
when you press The PrtScrn key, it copies the image to the clipboard
and brings up PrintKey 2000, when lets you save it in any format you
want.

This seems like a nice suggestion, but it would always be helpful to
have a link to the _canonical_ site (since lot's of duplicates abound).

Q: Where is the canonical location (and version?) for PrintKey 2000?
A: ?

Googling, I first found this from PC Magazine, which doesn't bode well:
https://www.pcworld.com/article/231643/printkey_2000.html
"Note: This file is no longer unsupported by the vendor and has been
removed from PC World's Downloads library"
"Sometimes you just need to do a simple thing--like making a
hard-copy printout of your screen. But if you hit the Print Screen
key in Windows, it won't actually print the screen to a printer.
Instead, it will copy the screen into the clipboard, from where
you have to paste it into a graphics-capable program and then print it.
Print Screen (as the name suggests) cuts out the middleman:
once the small, free program is installed and the No Dialog mode
is enabled, it will print out the computer screen to the default
printer whenever you hit the print screen key...."

Apparently, it "might" not work well on Windows 10...

It works just fine on Windows 10. Try it and see for yourself.

comments about this, but there is no fix because Printkey is simply
too old to work well on Windows 10.

It's age doesn't matter. As I said, it works fine.

A recommendation: put the task bar on the side of the screen, rather
than the bottom. You will then have much more room on it.

Hehhehheh...
I'm one of the most well-organized people you've ever (not) met.

My screen dimensions are longer on the horizontal than vertical.
Hence, for _different_ reasons, I put the taskbar on the left.

Those different rasons are simply that most "pages" are "portrait".
In portrait mode, vertical distance is at a premium.
Horizontal distance is not.

Hence, for decades, my menus go on the sides and not on the bottom.
Everything I do, is well thought out.

For example, there's a good reason for that black desktop too.

HINT: There's a _good_ reason for all those browsers, for example.

Thanks. Your information will help everyone (which is how it should be).
To that end, here are my ad-hoc notes (which I keep for every install).

Q: Where is the canonical location (and version?) for PrintKey 2000?
A: https://softfamous.com/printkey-2000/

Specifically:
https://softfamous.com/download-file...2000/3910/821/
version 5.10

I saved the installer into:
C:\software\editor\snapshot\printkey2000\5.10_Prin tKey2000.exe (565KB)
It wants to install into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\PrintKey2000\Printkey2000.exe
I installed it into:
C:\app\editor\snapshot\printkey2000\Printkey2000.e xe

I opted not to create a backup when the installer asked.
It seems to work alongside greenshot (where time will tell)

UPDATE
A reboot shows that greenshot & printkey-2000 conflict on Win10.

I'm not going to bother to debug how to make both work at the same time.
I'll just pick one or the other (since I use the Win+PrtScrn mostly
anyway).

If others know how to make both work alongside each other, then they might
post what those settings must be (they're likely simple settings).
