1. You might remove the keyboard driver from Device Manager, and restart
the computer. There are other options such as: Update driver, and
Rollback the driver. Either might reinstall the damaged driver.

2. Also try this: With the power off, unplug the keyboard, then plug it
back in.

3. Replace the keyboard batteries, if wireless.

4. Try another keyboard.

5. Replace keyboard.

Take it back to the shop. Or sell it on Ebay :-)

Contact Dell support. Send it back to them for repair.

So, since it's "only" a few months old, the keys can't stick? The
drivers can't get damaged? It's especially easy for the hd to overwrite
files on a laptop because it's continually moved and bumped. A desktop,
on the other hand seldom gets bumped hard enough to have the heads jump
during a write operation.

Try "On screen Keyboard" and see if the problem occurs or not . Tell us the
results.
To open it type osk.exe in Run dialog.

Default keyboard not working!

I have been online with a gentleman from Dell. We took off the cover,
unplugged a cable and plugged it back in, put the cover on and it now works!

Thanks for all your help. I have had sooooooo much trouble with this
computer that I get really frustrated when it does not do something again.
Even if it is new!

You did not notice that Thanks Phyl and Phyl were typed without the problem?
It is BS.

Actually, I did. But, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Even the
first post appeared to contradict his claims, but a simple Backspace key
after any double character would eliminate some of the added keys. That
might get old quickly and he decided to just go with the double-strikes
through the rest of the posts.

There is NO RULE which says that ANY pc part has to last more than 2
minutes.
