Windows Error n.5
I ordered a software and had to extract the file received. Then I tried to
create a floppy disk for my organ from this data. But unfortunatially it did not work yet. Whenever the EXE-program tried to create the disk image it asked for a floppy. Then the program should format the floppy and prepare the image for the organ. At this point in time I get the message "Windows Error n5" I tried this with 2 different PCs, with different operating systems (Win-XP and Win7), and with different disks but without success. When ever I tried to write or read this disk or to reformat it with Win7, I get the message from the system that the disk cannot be used anymore and I hat to scrap it. Is this an known problem? |

What I would try. Open the folder in Explorer that holds the executable file. Right-click on the file and select "Run as Administrator". Now, the program runs with more permissions than you were previously giving it. This isn't the exact example I want, but it illustrates a right-click context menu with "Run as administrator" option in it. http://img.comptalks.com/uploads/201...trator-cmd.jpg Paul |

Manfred OK, here is another solution. Remove the floppy from the drive, run the program. Let it prompt you to install the floppy diskette. Then, let the program continue. In the meantime, I had the opportunity to use another old PC with Windows Professional 2000 installed. I could not believe it, but here it worked. Since I rarely use the floppy drive, I will make no further effort to solve the problem. I thank you Paul, for your information and hints. Manfred |
