I purchased a laptop with Windows XP. The software has
missing registry files, and the computer malfunctions all
the time.

The company I purchased the computer from says they are
not responsible for the Microsoft software. All I know is
that I bought a new computer that doesn't work, and I want
it fixed.

The company I purchased the computer from told me to buy a
new copy of Windows XP and reload it on my computer. Does
that sound right? Shouldn't Microsoft send me a rescue
disk to correct the problem?

If anyone can help me with this problem, please reply.

If you bought this at a local store call the computer manufacturer and tell them what these people told you. Also the manufacturer should handle your problem also. Like the post said tell everyone where you bought this computer.
