.NET Optimization RunTime Question
I had just updated my WinXP Pro SP2 with the new version May 2007
AutoPatcher software. On reboot, ZoneAlarm came up with an alert that the ..NET Optimization RunTime was trying to access a particular IP. Without answering allow or deny I did a TraceRoute. This came up with the address www.theplanet.com - I have never been there before, and as far as I'm aware no software on my system derives from that organisation. It seems a legitimate outfit, but I told ZA to deny access. What is .NET playing at? Google revealed no connection between the site and .NET |

.NET Optimization RunTime Question
Disable the .NET Runtime Optimization Service. Mscorsvw.exe is what runs.
Then ask AutoPatcher. -- Hope this helps. Let us know. .NET Optimization RunTime Question
Using at least one appendage, the entity known in this space-time
continuum as "Wesley Vogel" revealed in : Disable the .NET Runtime Optimization Service. Mscorsvw.exe is what runs. Then ask AutoPatcher. Well. Dot Net didn't try a repeat, though I didn't actually disable it. AutoPatcher suggested a virus check after disabling Dot Net Opt.RT. Clean as a whistle. AVG, BOClean and UnHackMe running full time. Clean with Dot Net, clean without Dot Net I'm not worried about AutoPatcher, www.theplanet.com or Dot Net. I just want to know why Dot Net is calling strangers. That website seems as legit as reasonable. It may provide webservices from what little I saw of it. My system has no legit reason for contact. What would even prompt Dot Net to such an attempted connection? What type of program might initiate contact? Definitely no Viruses or Trojans on board this ship |
