Use a program like TweakUI for this purpose. Lots of programs leave the name
in that list when they are uninstalled, so software like TweakUI has been
developed to fine tune Windows. You can find links to that program, and many
more solutions at a site such as www.WindowsAnnoyances.org

If DisplayName is used the program should be listed in Add or Remove
Programs (appwiz.cpl). If QuietDisplayName is used, the program will *not*
be listed.

Navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Uninstall\SomeProgramName

Rename the String Value DisplayName to QuietDisplayName.

TweakUI, wonderful tool that it is, has no options for Add or Remove
Programs. Other than hiding appwiz.cpl (Add or Remove Programs) from the
Control Panel.

Hey Wesley.
I was misleading. The link http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/article05-009
describes how to use Regedit to accomplish this task. It also says that
TweakUI can be used, but I did not investigate further.
Thanks and have a great day.

I see that at the link. I just looked through TweakUI again and it must be
well hidden. :-)
