Default Hard Drives Won't Shut Off

I have a tower running WinXP Pro with two hard drives: the first is running
the OS and programs; the second I use as network storage over my wireless
home network.

I recently upgraded the network drive from 120 gigs to 500 gigs. Since
doing so, the 500 never goes into sleep mode, as the 120 used to after 10
minutes; the 500 just keeps spinning away. I've reset the power program
under properties on the desktop with no success. Any suggestions?

Thank you,

Ernie

Drives going into sleep mode is usually under control of the drive
itself. There may be a manufacturers program to adjust its behaviour. I
had the opposite; my old Seagate never sleeps, but my newer Seagate
(specifically a "backup" solution) sleeps after only a few seconds of
inactivity (and cannot be changed, according to Seagate).

I've seen this happen before and it was the Power Supply. Maybe your
drawing more power now that something went wrong.
