I've enjoyed 'talking' to you, Snit.
You are a breath of fresh air on Usenet!

Snit is a good man, a friend of mine. Those who attack him either
don't understand him, or are simply full of hatred.

I spent years not countering the false accusations of sock usage. I
seriously underestimated the number of people who bought into the “everyone
is Snit” gag.

'Snit' is a somewhat odd-sounding pseudonym.

Would you care to explain the origin? I'm not demanding, just mildly
interested. It really matters not one jot.

That's good to hear, Joel. :-)

Thanks for speaking up in his favour.

I'm glad to see you doing so, as well. We need more rationality in
the endless bickering about him. For the life of me I can't
understand why the haters are so obsessed.

Downloaded and playing with now. Seems good -- though clearly in beta
form. Have suggestions I will post later (to the beta forum).

It's in alpha, not beta.

Get ready for Steve Carroll to join the beta team and create massive
problems by attacking everything snit does.
Best to block Steve Carroll if he tries to join.

From an old gag when I was in high school and then college in Las
Vegas... stood for "Southern Nevada Institute of Technology".

Now just use it out of habit and to keep a consistent name. You can find
"Snit" being used by me going back to 1994 or so (though with different
emails).

I cannot understand why people would focus on me so much. I have some
knowledge about a few things but am a pretty crappy scripter and not a
programmer. What is the obsession for? But whatever... happy to be
talking more about tech here.

Actually making a video as I type this -- Linux is installing in a VM.

So, who would be the authority on this topic?
The creators of Android, which is google.

They are not the authority.

they are for the products they create.

Nope. In terms of "what is Linux", they aren't.

But you are, eh?

What of the post did you understand?

That I'm FAR better off with Apple macOS :-D

How so?

"The integration between applications on the
desktop, with each other and the OS services, and the integration with my
iOS devices, is a huge plus."

I couldn't phrase things any better than Snit!

Thanks, Snit! :-D

Snit's actually on point about this. Example for me, I use Windows,
however I do have an iPhone and last year purchased an Apple Watch 4
which BTW is an amazing device.

So, getting it working involved charging the watch and placing it near
the iPhone. It picked up and configured networking, applications,
configuration options as they were set on my iPhone and so forth.
I was impressed.

Now would I pay 3x the going rate for a Mac as compared to a PC for
that type of integration? Or even more since I build my own systems.

Probably not, but the Apple watch is not much more expensive than the
other alternatives and it's the only one, currently, with an approved
ECG measuring capability, at least in USA.

I have heard that it saved some peoples lives when having a heart attack
by dialing 911 and letting the dispatcher know where you are at.
The guy woke up at the hospital wondering what happened.

However there is no denying that Apple has the integration between
devices down to a science, as long as the user is willing to fork over
the cash for that option and many do.
