What would the fewest assumptions be in this situation ?

Pretend this was a computer problem, and something like this
didn't work properly. What would you check ?

"This Connection is Untrusted

You have asked SeaMonkey to connect securely to
social.answers.microsoft.com, but we can't confirm
that your connection is secure."

A missing or expired certificate maybe ?

Maybe the server no longer exists, and the nameserver at MSFT
has converted social.answers.microsoft.com into something
inappropriate (which then, has no certificate).

This looks like a puzzle for someone who likes web puzzles.

Using the "glob" on the end, the "87058857-d181-4019-a723-efd9a49d9275",
I can find it's been relocated. And that's the problem with that
sewer of a webforum on the microsoft.com site. They can't maintain
any web content properly.

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...3-efd9a49d9275

And the notion of installing tools on an infected computer is
pretty crazy. Malwarebytes tried that for a while, with their
"chameleon" thing. But the thing is, the bad guys adapt to tricks
like that, and then the "foothold" is harder to get.

Kaspersky is pretty good at clawing its way into an infected
computer, and all it takes for their paid version, is
several reboots. It may not finish the job on the first
reboot, but after several reboots, it'll "get in" and do its
thing.

And after such shenanigans are finished, do you still trust
your computer setup ? If it was just adware, then you wouldn't
panic. If it was a real threat, you might level and reload.
Classifying the threat, is a bit of work, as the tool you're
using, may not give any info about what it was.

you keep saying this. you also keep not, repeat NOT, providing even a
scintilla of support for your statements. Given your previous behaviour, when
you have lied consistently and deliberately about many people including me, I
don’t believe you and I will not believe unless you can provide supporting
evidence. and that evidence must either be easily verifiable by others,
especially including me, or must be vouched for by _trusted_ 3rd parties. No,
URLs are not evidence. neither are images. and the 3rd party had better have
a _long_ history of posting, a history which can be verified, to be sure that
he’s not just another of your socks.

not my problem at a guess you got banned. again, but that’s only a guess,
subject to modification if new evidence shows up. except i don’t give a

What an interesting comment you made, Paul.

I like that ..... "a sewer" - much in line with my own thoughts! :-)

I established to my own satisfaction that nobody from Microsoft is
responsible for checking the safety of any links published in forum
posts. Whilst naive computer users are well aware that they shouldn't
click random links in email messages. they perceive the Microsft forums
- and the Apple ASC forums too - to be 'SAFE' places. They will click
indiscriminately without a second thought.

I really do appreciate the comments you make, Paul. The 'signature' of
PABear used in the Microsoft Answers forums always had a live link to
the Forums at www.Aumha.org There, lots of clever folk talked naive
computer users through all sorts of high-jinks to 'clean' their
computers. I became convinced that they were *installing* malware, not
removing it!
I worked hard to get the forums shut down.
