Default Authentication tab

I am using a Windows XP machine. I noticed in most of the
XP machines there is Authentication tab in local area
connection network properties.
If there is wireless network card inserted into the
machine, there will be one more extra tab "Wireless
Networks" apart from General, Advanced, and
Authentication tabs.
But, on my XP machine, only General and Advanced tabs
show up. What is missing on my machine? Can any one
please tell me?
For example in the following page look at the "Wireless
Network Connection Properties" image.

TIA,
