Default Messenger not working anymore.

Today I was logging to messenger again, but it said in order to login, I need
to install new version of messsenger. Without installing it, I can't login.
But I get this:

http://www.janikarvonen.com/install_messenger.jpg

How in earth I'm suppose to use messenger if I'm forced to install new
version which doesen't even work?

I use Windows XP 64 bit.

Currently I use version that works with XP 64. If newer version does not
support 64 bit XP, I have to call it off?

I use Version 2008 (Build 8.5.1288.816)

Greetings,

I've addressed this problem on my blog:
http://messengergeek.spaces.live.com...DA1!3406.entry

Basically you either have to engage compatibility mode for your current version or force the
latest version to install using the manual installers.

Hello again,

Well today I got this same problem back again, and it won't start working
even I do steps I did before. I wonder if Microsoft made "fix" for that so it
won't work anymore.

Any ideas how to get this working now?
