Default trouble with internet connection sharing

i have a two computers running winxp pro, one is the host
with two netgear fa311 cards (one PPOPE to the dsl modem
and the second for the network) and the client with a
netgear fa312. I have tried to configure several
different scenarios to get ICS to work, but usually the
client cannot detect the shared internet connection
(built in pppoe). Sometimes i can get it to work with a
couple disable/enable, but it hardly ever works when you
first boot the client up. I have tried to manually
config the ip address, dns address, and gateway, and i
have tried to have everything set up automaticcally usung
dhcp, but nothing ever made it work all of the time.
