Have you scanned your system for "spyware" ?

We have several new XP boxes (3 months now). Recently one of them becomes
extremely slow. As in literally taking 3-7 minutes to open word. Other
apps take longer. It comes and goes. Sometimes a reboot helps, sometimes
it doesn't. When I look at the task list, nothing says it's not responding
in applications. In processes, everything appears to be normal. If it
matters, it's on a Netware network. Any ideas?

What if I just remove sp1 until there's a fix?

Is the 'slow' computer using Service Pack 1? Microsoft is aware of an

issue
involving SP1 and slooooooowdowns within WinXP. SP1 somehow changed the

way
memory is managed within XP. If it is a serious issue you can call
Microsoft tech support and they have some kind of workaround. Otherwise
they are recommending that users wait for a fix that is coming soon. (yeah
right)...
