CD-ROM does not recognize Streets & Trips Setup Disk after SP2 install

I installed SP2 about a week ago. Today I tried to install
Streets & Trips 2005. The CD-ROM will not read the Setup
CD (it just whirls momentarily, nothing shows up if CD
drive is viewed in File Explorer), but it will read all
other CD's including the S&T Run disk. I tried installing
S&T on my laptop running W2K; it installed fine. I am
thinking it has something to do with SP2. I tried tuning
off Firewall, no luck. I tired stopping the wscntfy.exe
service - that is an annoying little ******* - it just
keeps restarting.

XP Home, SP2, HP Pavilion desktop, Sony CD-RW CRX215E5
drive.
