Default Renaming user account (Full system rename)

Could anyone tell me how to change the name of a user account so that the folder in 'Documents and Settings' for that user changes also, aswell as any other system references to that user. The chimps at the computer store made the account name 'sihdigc', which is just ridiculous. I've set everything up on this account and don't fancy having to make a new one, I'd just like to know how to change the user name properly.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me,

-James-

Hi Woodzor,

There are two methods to do so. First, is to rename the user profile folder
manually using Windows Explorer (running from a different user account), and
then changing the ProfileImagePath pointer in the registry. Second method is
to make an exact duplicate copy of a profile, using the Copy To option.

Method 1:
----------

How to rename or move a User Profile folder?:

Method 2:
----------

Create a new user account from Control Panel User Accounts applet
Logon to that account to initialize the newly created profile and log off
Login as Administrator (built-in Administrator account)
Open Control Panel System applet
Click the Advanced tab
Click Settings under User Profiles
Select a profile to copy from and choose "Copy To"
Complete the process.

Method 3:
----------
If you don't mind losing the customizations made in the current profile,
follow this method:

How to copy data from a corrupted user profile to a new profile:

(This method does not retain the user settings)
