Default video/voice Windows Messanger 4.7

Jonathan

I do not have a physical router as far as I am aware.
I have a ALCATEL Speed Touch USB device for connection to
the Intermet for BT Broadband.

I do have a home network set up, this computer being the
main one. Would this cause any issues?

Regards
Denis

Thanks for the info. One problem is i cannot find the
Network Connections under the Communications heading

from
the Accessories listing all i have is Fax under this
heading so cannot action the deletes under the settings
buttons you have advised to do.

I have removed the firewall from my internet connection
as suggested.

Can you help on this?

thanks Denis.

Greetings Denis,

Are you using any type of router or firewall?

If you're using a router, and assuming it supports

UPnP,
you might want to clear the port
forwardings for Messenger. To do so, click Start, All

Programs, Accessories, Communications,
Network Connections. Right-click your "Internet

Gateway"
(should be under the Internet
Gateway heading) and choose Properties. Choose the

Settings button, click each 'msmsgs' or
'msnmsgr' entry and then choose 'Delete' to each one.

Then close Messenger (right-click the
Messenger icon, choose Exit), then restart Messenger

and
try a voice/video conversation
again.

If you're using the built-in Windows XP Internet

Connection Firewall, you might try turning
it off. To do so, click Start, then click the Control

Panel. If you're in category view
click Network and Internet connections then click

Network Connections. Right click the
network connection, then click Properties. Click the

Advanced Tab, and verify that the
Internet Connection Firewall is unchecked.

Hi Denis,

It might -- if you're using multiple network adapters, it may just be that your network
adapters are in the wrong order. To see and to fix, click Start, All Programs, Accessories,
Communications, and Network Connections. Choose the Advanced menu, then Advanced Settings,
and use the arrow's in the first window to change the order to:

Connections:
Your Internet/Network Connection to the DSL modem
Your Internal Connection
1394 Connection (if applicable)
[Remote Access connections]

After you've finished, click OK, and then reboot.

Jonathan

Under communications I do not have the Network
communications you are talking about only Fax.
So i have gone in through Control Panel and found the
Advanced settings.
Under Adapters and Bindings I have the following list of
items.
Network Bridge (Network Bridge ) 5
Home Area Network
1394 Connection
(Remote Access connections)

As you will see there does not seem to be a listing for
my Internet connection.

please advise.

Denis

Thanks
Denis
