Default HowToFix THIS?? 54Mbps to 18Mbps in a session??

FAQ: Toshiba TabletXP 1g+mem plenty of HD space. intel(PRO) wireless
2200bg. PROBLEM: in a new session the speed of my DSL wireless can go
from 54Mbps to 18Mbps in increments. I had this problem before several
years ago, before I recently did a factory restore. Back then some
great techy sent me to Toshiba German website for a driver that USA
didn't have on it's website. It worked, and I lost that work in the
recover. Several other laptops I have sitting right next to this one
don't do that, they have different cards, Atheros I think. I can't find
this driver that came from the German website because I don't know what
I'm looking for. Is there any settings within the computer here that
can be tweaked for max performance from the signal. Can anyone FIXIT?
Thanks so much in advance.

Yes, you can lock the speed of your wireless card if the drivers allow it
BUT in most cases this may not be an ideal solution to the problem. By
locking the speed at an unsustainable rate you will introduce errors and
resends, in effect slowing the overall speed of the session down anyway.
Check utilities for your wireless card/adapter and/or options in Device
Manager. And good luck.
