Dial-Up Networking box pops up randomly
I am having the same problem. After reading your post,
I checked the msconfig/startup and there about 8 programs listed. Is there a way to find out which one is causing this. Thanks for any help. -----Original Message----- There are two things you can do, Chris - one is easier than the other but both will work You can set your machine to "Never dial a connection" in Control Panel -- Internet Options -- Connections, or: You can locate the program that's running in the background that's trying to call home and disable it. Without knowing a whole lot about your machine I'm not sure I can tell you what that is - but if you run "msconfig" and disable the program that's running on startup that wants to call home that should also solve your problem. good luck! -----Original Message----- The Dial-Up Networking box keeps popping up when I don't need it and is generally making a nuisance of itself. The box appears once Windows starts up, and if I close it it will reappear at seemingly random times. I don't have any internet applications like Messenger or Outlook set to run automatically, so I don't understand what's causing this behavior. If someone could tell me what settings I need to change or what fixes I need to install I'd appreciate it a great deal. Thanks! . . |
