First reregister the dll:
Start- Run; Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll

Then, open IE, under View, Encoding... choose Western European (Windows)

Default Corrupted printer setting in IE

Thanks Cari,
That's the right error but I didn't have safairy installed. the disable
third party extensions didn't resolve the problem. I'm feeling like I now
have to upgrade to IE 7 to be able to print in my apps that relay on IE
settings, which I am loathe to do.

Thanks very much for your help.

You can always uninstall IE7 if you don't like it. However I've got it
installed on every PC in this house (6 of them)

For future reference, that script error came with a line number, and this
line number is the key to solving the problem. There are, perhaps, a half
dozen or so script errors like this plaguing folks and each has a different
solution based on the line number of the error. Should another one occur,
please include the line number, it should greatly enhance our ability to
provide the appropriate solution. I'm glad installing IE7 fixed the
problem!
