Problem with Dell printer
I hope someone can help me with this. I have a fairly new pc (windows xp
home) and Dell AIO printer. I have 3 user accounts, on only one of which I can send items to the printer. When I try from the other 2 user accounts I get this message "Incorrect Port Detected" - "The printer is designed to work with USB cables only" and "The current software is not set to USB port" I've tried Dell support before but they only ever seem to want more money to help with 'software' problems. Please help if you can -- With thanks, Cali |

Problem with Dell printer
From the Control Panel, click on Printers & Faxes.
Right click on the Printer and select Properties. In the Advanced tab, tell it to Print Direct to Printer instead of using the Spooler... it's a problem often seen on XP Home where a Symantec product (like Norton A/V) is installed. -- Cari (MS-MVP) Printing & Imaging http://www.coribright.com/windows "Cali" wrote in message news I hope someone can help me with this. Problem with Dell printer
You must be in the Administrator account to do this rather than a User
Account. -- Cari (MS-MVP) Windows Client - Printing & Imaging www.coribright.com/Windows "Cali" wrote in message ... I tried this but got message reading "Printer settings could not be saved. Make sure you're logged on as the Administrator when you try to change the
settings and not as a User. -- Cari (MS-MVP) Printing & Imaging http://www.coribright.com/windows "Cali" wrote in message ... I checked this and all of the user accounts are described as computer
administrator accounts. I tried making the changes from the other accounts and got the same message. -- With thanks, Cali "Cari (MS-MVP)" wrote: You must be in the Administrator account to do this rather than a User Account. -- Cari (MS-MVP) Windows Client - Printing & Imaging www.coribright.com/Windows "Cali" wrote in message ...
