When opening up IE it pops up and then goes away immediately
I've downloaded and installed IE 7 thinking this will work but hasn't. Also,
all cookies, files, histories are all deleted. Any other suggestions, please advise. |

Hi Zo I don't know why you installed this beta stuff - are you are tester and do you have a spare computer to test on. I fear your problems may have just started - it is in most cases, very difficult to revert back to IE6. May I suggest you look in the below for your help - they are for IE7, whereas you are in XP.basics newsgroup. Good luck - the moral is 'if its beta, better leave it alone' IE7 - BETA COMMENTS ETC - WEB SITE http://www.microsoft.com/communities...orer. general NEWSREADER GROUP news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...plorer.general |

No i'm not a tester, I was trying to fixed the IE issue by just uninstalling
it and installing IE7. Didn't think too much of the name but I guess I should have. Thanks for the direction though. I think I have an idea of a fix from in there so we'll see how that goes. Thanks though. "antioch" wrote: "Zo" wrote in message ... I've downloaded and installed IE 7 thinking this will work but hasn't. Also, all cookies, files, histories are all deleted. I wish you every success - and keep away from MS beta progs - they should
come with a health warning - like 'installing this can kill your computer' Antioch "Zo" wrote in message ... When opening up IE it pops up and then goes away immediately
Hi,
Your problem is probably being caused by a third-party program, toolbar, BHO (Browser Helper Object) or other add-on to Internet Explorer. I would uninstall IE7 beta, then try to find the troublemaker. Start by uninstalling the Yahoo toolbar if it's listed in Add or remove programs. It can cause trouble on some systems. [XP SP2] From IE Tools Manage add-ons. Disable one or two add-ons, at a time, to identify the culprit. Toolbar Cop from http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/Toolkit.htm can help identify and remove add-ons, BHOs, etc. Disable (for diagnostic purposes) programs such as pop-up blockers, security, toolbars and other add-ons for IE, anti-virus, etc. Take a look at any program that might be interfering with IE. You may have to reconfigure, reinstall, or not reinstall, a program. *** Important... Turn on the Windows Firewall (from Control Panel or Security Center) before disabling a third-party firewall. This might be a malware problem (adware, spyware, trojan, etc.) See these sites for help: The Parasite Fight http://www.aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites: http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm Malware Removal and Prevention Overview - CastleCopsWiki: http://wiki.castlecops.com/Malware_R...tion:_Overview Bugs, Glitches & Stuffups: http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/Darnit.html Removing Malwa http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...moving_Malware 827315- Unexplained computer behavior may be caused by deceptive softwa http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=827315 What you can do about spyware and other unwanted softwa http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...ywarewhat.mspx Hope this helps, Don [MS MVP- IE] "Zo" Zo[at]discussions.microsoft.com wrote in message ... "Zo" wrote in message ... I've downloaded and installed IE 7 thinking this will work but hasn't. Also, all cookies, files, histories are all deleted. Any other suggestions, please advise. I have this same problem with IE6 only my laptop (XP/SP2 Pro) -- The only realtime solution I have found is to click on the IE6 screen before it dies. Then it does not quit. I have not found any other solution to it. |
