Your Fax number is your current phone number. If you use your PC to
receive faxes, you must leave it ON to receive faxes. In your settings
just enter your phone #, if the fax is from long distance you must
include your area code.

Hey Byte, can you not configure your pc to receive a fax and wake your
computer up from standby mode?
In Control Panel = Phone and Modem Options = Modems tab = Properties =
Power management there is
an option to do this. The question is: does it work?
regards,
Peter

I do not know if it works for I seldom use Fax. Most of my friends
including myself use the attach feature to email. That way you can
retrieve documents at your leisure and not leave the PC running,
especially when I may be gone for days at a time.

Hey Byte, I cannot find fault with your logic there. I would do the same -
99% of the time - but there are times when only a fax will do - sometimes
e-tailers stipulate transactions must be completed using fax - hence my
attendance in this newsgroup.
Regards,
Peter
