XP Pro SP2 didn't work-How do I get crical updates?

Downloaded the SP2 update and it caused my computer to
reboot constantly. I was instructed to do a repair,
uninstall it, and restore to a point before the update
but the system volume didn't have any resore points prior
to the debacle that SP2 caused. So, I had to repair with
my XP Pro SP1 Cd and reinstall all my other programs.
It's been three days I've wasted because of this. Now,
I'd like to get all the critical updates I installed
before this mess but the update center doesn't give me
those options anymore since MS decided to make things so
difficult for it's customers. How do I know which updates
I should install to patch all the security holes in this
system and in which order they need to be installed. And,
why in the hell don't you people fix this crap before you
release it? I'm reading 15% of the people who download
SP2 have computers that don't work afterwards. That's
unbelievable!

Go to windowsupdate.microsoft.com If you're using XP or
200, use the Windows Update program included.
Anyway, I would've prefered you to have done a repair
install, it dpesn't reset your files, only the system
files, And microsfot did post steps to take BEFORE
installing SP2. Anyway, I don't recommend getting SP2,l
unless you're desperate.

Oh, and I almost forgot...Media Player now doesn't open
because of an internal error. The DX Diag tool says I
have.dlls that are both old and new. Is that from SP2
creating bins and putting them there or what? And why
doesn't the best satellite card you can buy have a signed
driver? I have no problems at all with it yet SP2 doesn't
load unsigned drivers? WHAT???Why not?

I've been there. There is no option to download anything
other than SP2. You can download individual updates
without the download program but I don't know which ones
and in which order they should be installed to patch all
the security flaws properly. MS doesn't want to make it
easy for their customers, do they?
