Default All-In-One on USB

I bought a LexMark X2350 All-In-One yesterday. The printer works great, It
copies great, But it will not scan. My computer doesn't comunicate with
it. Aparantly being that it is hooked up through a USB port, there is no
option for that in the wizard set up, my computer cant see it. But during
the alignment set up of the printer, it told me to scan the paper that it
printed and it seemed to do it. Although, I don't think it actually sent the
info to the PC. I'm sure what to do..... Is there a way to add a USB port
into the scanner set up? I haven't found it.

If you installed the software correctly before connecting the AIO to the PC,
it should have all been done for you automatically.

Duuuh, sorry but if that's all you had to say, you shouldn't have bothered.
I followed the instructions exactly, using the software, that came with the
AIO and I think the problem is in my computer. In the scanner wizard (which
I only tried after it wouldn't respond) there is not an option for a USB
port. What I wanted to know was if anyone knows how to add a port to the
scanner set up options? My computer is running Windows XP home edition.
Some actual advice would be appreciated.

Lexmark may have a "cleanup" utility that supposedly gets rid of regisstry
entries that may prevent the scanner from operating properly.

Next when all else fails, disconnect the all in one completely, uninstall
(Not delete) the all in one drivers. Then, assuming you have a conventional
non usb keyboard and maybe mouse, you can uninstall the usb port and serial
drivers. Do a reboot from power off. This should restore the standard
windows USB drivers.

Next, install the all in one software exactly as the instructions specify.
Generally, the all in one drivers are at least partially installed before
the all in one is plugged in to the computer. In some cases it may be
necessary to use the first USB 2.0 port on the initial install to have the
scanner properly recognized.

Other issues can exist between the windows camera scanner software and the
Mfrs. This occurred (in my case) with a HP scanner. A total reinstall of the
scanner and updated drivers did not cure things until I went thru the total
uninstall(again) and also uninstalled and reinstalled the USB drivers.

I really dislike all in ones, even though I have owned and used quite a few.

The printer driver portion seems to be updated by the mfrs, and the
scanner/fax side ignored after just a few years.

Chuck, thanks for the advice, I'll try it and keep my fingers crossed.
