Default Automatic Updates

I have a Dell Inspiron e1505 with Windows XP Home Edition - SP3. Overall
workinig pretty good. I have Automatic Updates turned on and for some reason
it keeps wanting to "Installing Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1
(update 1 of 1)... ", however just as it's starting a window entitled
"SL18.tmp" pops up and says "SL18.tmp has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." My only option at this point is
to Close the window and then the Automatic Update stops, but then after a
while it tries again with the same result. Any ideas?

Default Automatic Updates

I am not familiar with the .NET Framework. I looked at the KB Article and it
seemed simple enough to uninstall and reinstall the different versions, but
my question is, is there a list of version I should have for Windows XP Home
SP3? I currently have six versions (1.1, 2.0 for SP2, 3.0 for SP2, 3.5 for
SP1, 4 Client Profile, and 4 Extended). I don't know how I got these or
whether they are the right ones, or the only ones I should have. Can you
provide any insight, or point me to where I might learn a bit more. I would
rather not be loading unneccesary versions on my computer, but I want to make
sure I have all I need. Thanks.
