Missing EMM386.EXE file
I still have Windows 95. Was upgrading AOL software and on
restart of Windows, it failed to start. Fot lower case characters on bottom of screen, followed by message 'Press any key to continue'. When you press a key brings your to logged out screen ie. It is OK for you to switch of your PC now! Tried restarting in safe mode, but got same problem. Did a prompt restart and got msg that EMM386.EXE file is missing or corrupt. Could not find file on disk so assume it has been lost. Not too sure that the EMM386 file is the problem as I think it is the WIN.INI that is being read at the time of the failure. Can anyne pls help...its my year end and I ned to get at my data?? |
