Default power option properties

On my HP Pavillion 8300 with Win XP SP2, the Power Option Properties (In
Contro Panel)where you determine if Monitor or Hard Disks turn off after
xx min, just grayed out. No way to establish an option. Plese advise.
Much obliged

Are you running as limited user? Despite being per-user settings,
those can be set only by an administrator.

Just another design "feature" of Windows.

I don't think that this is true. A limited user account too can set Power
Options settings. I am currently log in to a Limited Users account and I can
still change Power Scheme settings.

Dimitry, have you checked your Display/VGA drivers. Are they properly
installed? Click Start - Turn Off Computer - check if "Standby" button is
disabled here. If that is so, then you need to install your VGA drivers from
your Motherboard or Display Card CD. You can also download them through your
Motherboard's manufacturer or Card's manufacturer website.

Hope this help, let us know!
