Default "Turn off monitor" feature doesn't turn off monitor

I have my PC's Power settings configured to turn off the monitor after
20 minutes. The monitor never goes off though. I am using the
correct driver for my monitor, a Hanns-G JC199D. Any advice on how to
troubleshoot this? The vendor isn't able to assist, and I haven't
found much info in searching for this issue.

My OS is XP Media Center SP2.

Thanks,

Steve

The monitor never goes off completely unless you switch it to off. What
happens is that the monitor goes into an energy saving mode which turns
screen black (as if it was off). Therefore, your not looking at a screen
saver, as most people also set up. My screen saver comes on after 10
minutes, then the monitor goes to Energy saving mode after 20 minutes.
After moving the mouse, my login screen will come up, asking for your
password.

Is this what your asking about?
Or are you trying to say that it never goes to the Energy Saving Mode (blank
monitor)?

I should have been more clear - the monitor never goes Energy Saving
Mode (blank). I've had other monitors in the past that have done
this; but this one won't.

There's a utility you can download called "wizmo" and one of its
features is "monoff", which instantly puts your display adapter into
energy saving mode (by suppressing both vertical and horizontal sweeps).

This might help you deduce what's going on, and what isn't.
I've found that having media playing (even if it is paused) will often
stop my display from reaching power-saving mode.
