CMD.EXE -- Where can I find a list of commands it supports?
There are commands used by the Command Prompt MS-DOS emulator,
but there are no DOS commands because Windows XP is not based on DOS. You and Mike must have gotten short-changed because my Win
XP supports ATTRIB. BTW, emulated does not mean emasculated. Just like commands in real DOS, emulated commands produce real results and must be used with caution. Although DELTREE was included in DOS 5.0, which is the nominal specification for the DOS emulator in Win XP, this command was omitted from the emulated command set. "Nicholas" wrote in message ... CMD.EXE -- Where can I find a list of commands it supports?
Since I posted my original message, I've noticed that for
some strange reason 'attrib' sometimes works and sometimes doesn't - in the latter case, I get the following error message returned: 'attrib' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file Has anyone else experienced this? (It's not related to 'path' status - I've checked that.) --- 'deltree,' is there any equivalent in cmd.exe - i.e., a command (or combination of commands) to recursively delete directories and their files? Thanks again. ************************************************** ******** -----Original Message----- You and Mike must have gotten short-changed because my Win XP supports ATTRIB.
