Can't install Windows 7 update for Meltdown CPU flaw
According to
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...pdate-kb405689 "This update will be downloaded and installed automatically from Windows Update. To get the standalone package for this update, go to the Microsoft Update Catalog website." This goes to: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft...px?q=KB4056897 Where is found: 2018-01 Security Only Quality Update for Windows 7 for x86-based Systems (KB4056897) Windows 7 Security Updates 1/4/2018 36.2mb (Yes, mine is 32-bit) Clicking the download link saves the file: windows6.1-kb4056897-x86_bb612f57e082c407b8cdad3f4900275833449e71.msu Running this produces the error 0x8023800c, which apparently is a timeout error. So what am I missing here? I would like to install this update without going through the whole Windows Update process of downloading a long list of items I don't want or need. -dan z- __ Someone who thinks logically provides a nice contrast to the real world.
