I'd disable the 3rd NIC, reboot and if the VPN still works, delete it.

Admittedly a minor point, but let me point out that you should say "at
the end of the task bar," not "on the right."

Although by default the task bar appears at the bottom of the screen (so
"on the right" is correct), it can be on any of the four sides of the
screen you prefer it on. With today's wide-screen monitors, I personally
think the left or right side of the screen is the best choice; mine is
on the left side.

Of course. That was very clear from your message. My point was that not
everyone's is, and when you are addressing a large group of people, as
you are here, you should not assume that everyone's is.
