Default bank site & enabling java

Probably the easiest (or quickest) ways to get a clean setup of Windows
XP is to get VirtualPC from Microsoft and install a clean copy of
Windows XP into a virtual machine. Just do the install of Windows XP,
followed by visiting the Windows Updates site as often until all
critical and recommended updates are done and no more listed (except do
NOT install IE8), and then test what happens when you connect to the
bank.

The point wasn't to disable just the AV program. It was to disable
MOST of any startup programs, including the AV program, to provide a
cleaner environment under which to load the web browser and render
web pages.

paragraph 4, currently in add/remove, i have:
java (tm) 6 update 14
"" "" 4
"" "" 5

I'll remove all 3 & go to java & install the latest update. but now
that begs this question from me; why does it only list those 3
updates but not just plain old "java" by itself ?

Uninstall all versions of Java.
Delete the remnant C:\program files\java folder.
Install just the latest version of Java.

"It's because "Java" covers a lot of territory, actually. There are many
versions if you look around their site, besides versions for different
revs of operating systems, developers, users only, programmers, etc.
etc. etc.. I don't recall all the types but there are quite a few of
them ... and thay are all "Java" when discussed in the aggregate..
It's sort of like your running Windows. There are several flavors and
revs but the aggregate is generally just referred to as "Windows" unless
there is a need to specify a certain one.

If you feel these issues with Opera are XP-related, why not start a new
thread here?

If you wish to keep Opera and you have specific Opera-related questions,
you may post them to:

opera.general

Good luck. :-)
