Default Welcome Screen Wallpaper

Does anyone know how to change the welcome screen
wallpaper?

Hi,

I too am facing similar issues with my windows XP professional (version
2002, service pack 1).
I tried both the tweaks mentioned in this thread.

1) Changing the HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop\Wallpaper key to
the one I want.
making sure that the image is a bit map image (.bmp).
making sure that there are no spaces in the path, and putting the whole path
in quotes anyways.
Result - no success

2) Using tweak UI to copy my current wallpaper to the welcome screen.
When I select the "wallpaper" and "screensaver" and hit the copy button,
tweak UI informs that the computer need to be rebooted. However after
clicking on the OK button in the messages, the checks are gone.
Since nothing happened after rebooting, next time i checked the checkboxes
and hit the appy button instead of copy, the tick marks stayed, but after
the reboot the changes weren't reflected. (The value of the regsitry key
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop\Wallpaper, did get changed to the
current wallpaper path, but still nothing comes up on the welcome screen).

Any more input on this one?
TIA

I tried that, it doesn't work (EX: C:\Document and
Settings\omni\Desktop\Images\Sky.jpg Is that right?)

Hi,

If you want to do it the old-fashioned way, open the

registry editor (Start Run REGEDIT ) and
navigate to HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop

and double click on 'wallpaper' on the right
pane and enter the full path to the wallpaper of your

choice.

It has to be a .BMP (bitmap) file only.
