Default Need for disk Cleanup

-----Original Message-----
Why do i need to do disk cleanup? Does it help in perf

issues(in normal conditions when I have say 1 gb of space
free?)
I can always clean up when the need arises, XP

automatically suggets a cleanup when the disk space free
is less than 200 mb.

SO whats the need for periodic cleanup?

Like so many things in life, there is no NEED for

regular disk cleanup. Win alerts at 200 meg cause that is
the point at which it is dying of starvation for space.
To answer your question, regular cleanup keeps your
machine performance at the level you want. After
cleaning, consider running defragment to optimized disk
read/write.
