T20 w/3Com Mini-PCI combo freezes XP
I have a Thinkpad T20 which is working nice with a memory and hard
drive upgrade, running WinXP SP2. I just added a 3Com Mini-PCI combo ethernet/modem card. Strangely, WinXP now freezes during loading but only on warm reboots -- never a problem on hard starts. I verified the card is the culprit by removing it and confirming no problem. Also, the card is otherwise working perfectly. Things I've tried so far: older, newer 3Com drivers, changing PM and wake-on-LAN settings, changing PCI configuration in BIOS. I don't think it's SP2, because I reinstalled a fresh version of XP, starting with the original version of XP (no service packs) and it happened also, before I added SP2. Also happens when warm rebooting in safe mode. Again, there's never a problem during a cold start. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks |
