View available wireless networks
When I right click on the icon in the system tray I get the normal response.
But when I then click on "View available wireless networks" none show up, with the only enabled button being "Cancel." The darn thing is my wireless 802.11b still works (it's an open network at my office) and I am connected. But I fear that, without access to the "advanced" button and page I will be unable to connect to other secure networks which I have had access to before. I did go in and restart the wireless zero configuration in the system administrator files but with no result. Any suggestions? FYI, am using XP home edition on a laptop and had access to the advanced options 'til about a week ago. Thanks. |

CapMedia,
You can try getting to the Advanced Settings via Network Connections instead. ie. Start -- Control Panel -- Network Connections, then right click on Wireless Network Connection and choose "properties". I found Windows XP SP2 broke my Wireless settings (Wireless worked but no access to some tabs in settings). I had to uninstall the driver for my wireless adapter, download the latest (labelled beta by the manufacturer) and install that for things to be happy again. Sincerely, Elizabeth "capmedia" wrote: When I right click on the icon in the system tray I get the normal response. View available wireless networks
Tried doing that back-door approach thru the network connections but get same
result: a window without the option to click on "advanced." Don't have SP2 (I won't load it 'til everyone stops having problems) but will attempt to find a driver for my wifi adapter (built in to machine) and see what works. Thanks. Will report back.
