Default Windows XP USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED errors

Hi,

Try this way:
First, undock the laptop.
Boot in safe mode and login as administrator.
Go to device manager and double click the Universal
Serail Bus controller.
Hight light the XXX PCI to USB Host Controller, right
click and select uninstall; click Apply and OK.
Reboot to normal. the find new hardware messages should
appear and load the USB driver. Go to device manager
again to ensure the XXX PCI to USB Host Controller is
there and windows confirm it is working properly.
Plug the axim and run Active Sync again.

Remember next time, when ever you pulg in any USB device
to the system and the "safely remove hardware icon"
appeared at the right handside of the bottom task bar,
use this icon before unplug the USB device from the
system.

hope it helps.

Peter

I am running XP Professional, all latest updates and
service packs. I am running this on a Dell Inspiron

8500.
I am not resuming and system does not hibernate, it is
connected to a dock however. This all started after I
installed started using my Dell Axim with this system. I
have had Active Sync installed for a while and was

capable
of hot plugging devices USB, now when I hot plug my axim
or any other usb device is says "usb device not
recognized".

Any ideas guys? I'd really hate to have to redo this
machine. E-mail please or if your local just call.
